The Great Blitz Album Survey…Favourite Albums Across The Years...Part 2…The 70s

If there is one thing that Blitz never has enough of, it’s music threads…so here’s another one.

Over the coming weeks I am looking to develop a comprehensive list of Blitzer’s favourite albums for each year from 1960 through to 2024.

I’ll break it down into threads by decades so you don’t have to spend ages on putting your favourites together.

This second thread is for the 1970s.

I’m asking that you name your top three albums for each year…in order as your top album will get three votes, 2nd favourite will get 2 votes and 3rd favourite will get one.

Eg

3 - Fave Album (3 votes)
2 - 2nd fave (2 votes)
3 - 3rd fave 1 (1 vote)

Extra Info: Live albums are ok but greatest hits/compilations are not

I’ll keep a tally and present the details later.

I’m aiming to keep voting open for a week so get into it and have your say.

Format is simple:

Copy and paste the following data into your post…and then add the details

Couldn’t find an album to save my self in 1990 and now I gotta filter a dozen into 3 and I’ve only looked at 1970… 70s is gonna take a few days.

Does Beatles let it be count as 1969 or 1970?

Wiki says it was released in May 1970

Over paranoid?

2 albums in a year is a fair effort by the way.

Some would say it started heavy metal…that’s good enough for me.

(Paranoid is also excellent but I prefer the self titled album)

I think they’d barely formed when that first one came out. Yeah, I’m looking at Paranoid.

Side one of Paranoid is as good as any side of any album ever. Side two not so much. Black Sabbath (album) is stronger as a whole of the two for mine. Both bangers though

Grateful dead also 2 albums in 1970.

Pfft…amateurs.

Creedence Clearwater Revival released 5 albums 1969-1970.

All five made the US top 10, two made it to number 1.

That’s impressive stuff (imo)

There’s a lot of years in the 70’s where I’m lucky to have listened to 3 albumns. Like I know the classics, but so many I have just never listened to properly
