The Great Blitz Album Survey…Favourite Albums Across The Years…The 60s

If there is one thing that Blitz never has enough of, it’s music threads…so here’s another one.

Over the coming weeks I am looking to develop a comprehensive list of Blitzer’s favourite albums for each year from 1960 through to 2024.

I’ll break it down into threads by decades so you don’t have to spend ages on putting your favourites together.

This fifth thread is for the 1960s.

I’m asking that you name your top three albums for each year…in order as your top album will get three votes, 2nd favourite will get 2 votes and 3rd favourite will get one.

Eg

3 - Fave Album (3 votes)
2 - 2nd fave (2 votes)
3 - 3rd fave 1 (1 vote)

Extra Info: Live albums and Soundtracks are ok but Greatest Hits/Compilations are not

I’ll keep a tally and present the details later.

I’m aiming to keep voting open for a week so get into it and have your say.

Format is simple:

Copy and paste the following data into your post…and then add the details

ARTIST NAME - ALBUM TITLE

I know that some of you might not want to participate in this one due to lack of knowledge but even a partial list is better than none.

So even if you only know 1-2 albums that you like from a particular year, please vote for them as it will help the overall survey.

Oh…and a gentle reminder that the format is:

I’m gonna have to do some listening research for the early 60s

I spent about a week doing it…listened to a lot of stuff that just wasn’t that good…hence my lack of at least three entries for 1960-62.

You sure this was released as an album in 1967?

First official release of the gig
was actually 1970. Split with Otis Redding.

Honestly don’t think I’ve got an awful lot to contribute here… Given I was born right at the end of the decade, there’s nothing I have any sort of personal attachment to, and it’s really just a few of the usual suspects that I’ve absorbed over time…

Anyone who doesn’t give the Beatles three votes for every one of their eligible years doesn’t know about the 60s.

That’s…an opinion

As Swoods says, great list, but taking Beatles For Sale over A Hard Days Night is certainly a unique choice.

Where’s your 2000s list?

Its comin…

I’m not super keen on any Beatles pre Rubber Soul, but I love “I’ll Follow the Sun” and I think that got it over the line.
