Sax is OK.

Until you have to listen to a 70s/80s rock station or playlist, then it gets pretty old.

Yep coupla korgs Iā€™ve used live/for recording, one analogue, one digital more for convenience

Bit of a juggle doing vox/geetar/synth duties, tell ya what!

Finally got myself a Little Martin LX1 to take on trips without pis.ing off the Mrs.

Review Incoming!

I tried a heap of travel/small guitars, and generally itā€™s a case of the bigger the body the better the sound. The mini-Maton was really good, though the price is around 1.5k and Iā€™m only expecting to play mine a few weeks a year, so nope. The Taylor GS Mini was outstanding, as was the Martin Dreadnought Jnr, but they were still a bit too big. The Yamaha mini was nice and small and the neck was great it just sounded like a cigar box.
So I settled on the Little Martin ($699) has a happy medium. Itā€™s really light weight so feels like a bit of a toy, and it can pump out a fair bit of sound so you can jam with others but it just doesnā€™t have the warmth, depth or clarity of a bigger guitar. (The GS Mini sounded like there was almost no compromise on the sound whatsoever)
Having said that, I had a good session with it last night and it does have some sweet spots on the neck tone-wise, plus the more I played and listened and adjusted the better it sounded. Itā€™s brand new too so it might take a while to get played in, and while the strings arenā€™t worn Iā€™d say they were strung some time ago and have lost a bit of life.
The nut width is a bit small but not too fiddly like a couple I tried (I tried an epiphone with a really short scale and but width and just couldnā€™t play it).
Anyway itā€™s a cool little addition to me collection, and a dangerous toe into the Martin waters.

After barely playing for 15 years, Iā€™m really enjoying getting into it again. Iā€™m playing funky bass with a drummer down the road, starting to write & planning to record.

Just bought a yummy Sire P7 Bass from Bass Centre in Sth Melbourne today. This will complement my three electric 6 strings (2 vintage Gretsches and a Nash telecaster)

Share the latest, Iā€™ve got into a bit of guitar trading the last year, nothing major but I keep an eye out on gumtree/facebook for people underselling stuff that Iā€™ll know I can flip for a small profit though places like reverb or specialised guitar pages on facebook. Anyway. I started out picking up a cheap epi SG for 250 bucks a while ago, sold that for $400, then used that 400 on a ESP LC sold it for 600, used that for a Mexican Fender Tele, and then traded it on a trading page for this.

Itā€™s a 2008 Gibson Melody Maker VOS.

So Iā€™ve basically, for a $250 outlay and a bit of time Iā€™ve turned it into a USA build Gibson :joy:

I was going to keep flipping, but Iā€™m blown away by the neck on this guitar. Itā€™s one of the best Iā€™ve ever played.

I recently acquired a Martin D-1 with original hard case. There was some huge damage to the guitar. Something had fallen on the case gone through and into the back of the guitar. The right side was detached from the bracing sticking out about 8 inches. A huge aperture in the back at the point of whatever impact it got. Everthing else on the guitar was not touched. perfect top and neck. It was going to be thrown out so I took it and slowly started to glue it back together again with Titebond original glue. It took about 10 days work.
It is not the best job in the world as it really needed a professional job to get a new back but I put it back together and now have myself a wonderful guitar worth almost 5,000 AED (approx. AUS 2,000). I should have taken before pictures but I have a couple of after pictures.
It has a great sound and is a real pleasure to play.

I got one of these about a year ago. They are surprisingly full sounding for their size.

The only knock on mine is there is some high e buzz, looks like it needs a new bridge, or at least some tweaking to it. Havenā€™t bothered taking it anywhere, so just ignore it. It isnā€™t terrible, but because I am aware of it it is noticeable to me when playing.

Lovely little thing though.

What do you normally play?

Maybe we should form a Blitzer band.

Iā€™m not having a whole lot of luck finding one through traditional channels.

Main acoustic is a Cole Clark Fat Lady. Not sure of exact model (not at home). Electric varies but lately an 86 Fender Strat MIJ, or USA SG that a mate gave me. Good mate!

Are MIJ Fenders fairly common here?

In the US they are kind of hard to find unless it is a specific model. My Jaguar bass is a Japan model.

Iā€™ve wanted to have a Stratocaster for a long time but itā€™s about #20 on my list of priorities, so it waits.

Something like this Strandberg is what I want to get. Not sure how I would fit a Roland GK pickup on there though.

Yea you can get your hands on them fairly easily in Aus. If youā€™re in melb try foundsound and swopshop in Carlton. Foundsound particularly is always well stocked with them.

Love the MIJ/CIJ fenders, Iā€™ve got a jag and a Tele and theyā€™re as good as any US fender or Gibson Iā€™ve ever played/owned

Nice,
I bought a baby taylor last year for the exact same reason.
The sound is truly amazing, rich and deep tones.
I cant remember if I posted a pic here or not. Unfortunately on one of my trips overseas it was manhandled in a spectacular fashion and has a small crack in the body.

Spewingā€¦it hasnt effected the sound though.

I love ergonomic playing focused design. If I could add the new Martin SC-13e acoustic Iā€™d be set.
