The Inevitable Rebuild

don’t think he ever did, tbh

same “happy to be here” energy as the playing group

He’s really the overachieving brother. He’s been appointed to coach 2 AFL teams. What’s Chris got? 1? Loser.

chris doesn’t even have long term vision. just the same thing every year with his team. boring.

Precisely… though it was nice to be called glass half full for the first time in about five years

My best 22 for 2025

I just hope Langford was playing injured, his form was farked this year

Classic essendon player of the last 20 years - his peak is a fringe all Australian but he’ll only be there for 18 months

Glass half empty or realist?

I think you’re over estimating our playing list. I have no faith that McGrath, McKay and Redman are premiership backmen and have serious questions about four or five others in that list. And then there’s the gaps to be filled.

And the idea that someone like those names I mentioned could go down a category or two is frightening.

Fortunately, we appear to be lifting training and development standards and have a new recruiting team so maybe we can safely say that we’ll end up with more talent and in less time than in previous years.

So sick of hearing coach after coach regurgitate the same ■■■■, but then do nothing about the senior players currently on the list.

Does anyone really think there will be a hard cut and rebuild at the club? They had an opportunity last year and didn’t take it. This year they signed up Menzies again. I cant see it. This is regardless of whether a rebuild is warranted or not.

Scott and the current LT(David B / Andrew W…et all) will have to defy all odds of the management manual to make deep cuts…They’ve had 2 years in the chair and if they can read the temperature - the only option for them is to go all in and try to win a final to be able to substantiate their tenure, if at all they have any intentions of continuing with the club.
Just watch how they’ll try and manipulate the trade/draft and try to sell hope/ use big words to ensure they paint a rosy picture (and hope like hell that the team makes the final firstly and if they can nick a win)
Will be an interesting watch!

Just wasn’t the same since he missed the set shot late on ANZAC Day.

As I said in the other thread.

The club will say that they’re making tough and ruthless calls on the List…… and then delist a heap of 1st/2nd/3rd year blokes playing VFL.

Should have kicked into the Man on the mark…so we could have finished 14th

Trying to plug those gaps appears hard right now. There is the unknown of Reid, great promise but perennially injured. Cox has shown flickers of talent, but has no home anywhere on the ground. Tsatas and Hobbs are on the outer, and are being hunted by other teams.

Can Roberts fill in a question mark? Maybe?
Guelfi has had over 100 games sunk into his development, and has shown ability to nab goals and get good possessions, but is also injury prone and falls out of the game too easily.

Saad is interesting and you hope one of the Davey twins can make it, but that’s a great unknown.

You hope another high draft pick along with getting enough points to nab Kako and hope they both can plug one or two of those question marks.

Nothing to bookmark, it’s been the case for decades.

Brisbane winning the premiership is another tick in the box for rebuilds
