The positive thread. find something, anything

My 12 year old had a 1:1 coaching session with Xavier Duursma today and not only was it incredibly informative and educational, my son is beside himself with joy. Having such stand up young men at 24 put that level of effort into encouraging and supporting my child gives you great faith the world will be in good hands when we’re old and cooked.

A great way to spend a sunny Sunday arvo

Been in these apartments/hotels for 3 weeks. Not much to smile about until recently…

There is this old fella who does laps out the front of my apartment (jogging). Every morning. I went out one day to empty the bin and he waved. We had a chat when he took a breather.

Seemed like a nice bloke. Has been in here 2 months while insurance work is done on his house.

Getting the man chair when the missus is shopping.

Also why don’t they put more man chairs in. Might get more sales that way.

Very pleasing and heartening to hear our ‘Dawnie’, the legendary Dawn Fraser is recovering from her fall and is making progress to recovery. A legend of Australian sport and arguably the ‘Dame’ of Australian sport.

Went to lunch in east Melbourne. Uber app was cooked so walked towards home through the Fitzroy gardens. On a day like today, what an amazing little oasis right by the city.

Top place for a skate too, some good wide downhill runs

Heff boys are flying home, thus ending their Singapore posting. I’m here for a couple more months.

Incredible and exhausting three years. Definitely made our family stronger and the kids have matured and resilient.

Heff13 suffered anxiety three years ago. He no longer does, he puts his hand up in class and looks forward to presentations. He has wandered Singapore on his own or with his brother and friends, building a level of confidence I could only have dreamed for.

Just hosted pre new year’s drinks with the neighbours. It really made me appreciate the importance of having great neighbours. Different people at different stages of life but all good friends.

One for the maths nerds (Hi @Alan_Noonan_10 ).

2025 is a square year (45 x 45). The last one was 1936 and the next 2116.

Overcoming long-held scepticism and visiting an acupuncturist for the first time and finding, after two hours of procedures including hot needling and cupping, that two areas of chronic pain are much, much better.

I’ve hd acupuncture as part of a massage a few times…mainly in the elbow and maybe ulna.

Did you have positive results from the acupuncture?

Alan can only answer yes to that question in this thread.

And if he doesn’t, I’ll have something positive to say about that.

Yeah, cleared the issue up. Took a couple of goes at it though.

Just had an amazing morning at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Perfect weather.
And I fall in love with that part of Melbourne every single time I go there. That there’s so much within walking distance is insane.
Pizza slice and a donut before catching the train home again.
