The Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP)

Martin has got a bit of the Steele Sidebottoms about him I reckon. Seems to get to lots of contests, positions himself well, beautiful kick, just a clever operator. Impressive.

HS saying we only have 2 players in the running. I’m not able to read the whole article doe to pay wall.

Scroll up a few hours.

Wanganeen and Martin

nic martin just looks too good to pass up here. he’s a 190cm goalkicker, who’s athletic and can find the ball, and still just 20 years old. he has a lot of potential as pretty much the ideal midfield prototype. it seems like if don’t pick him up, another club will snap him up right away and we might be made to regret it.

If your reading this dodo please take both tex and Martin

my gut feel says Tex is already ticked off. shows so much natural ability and flair, but also plays with urgency and gets stuck into the contest. the surname also helps.

Martin might need to impress against the dogs? from training reports, hes been pretty meh until the last week or 2? Waterman was signed after he had a massive day against fark carton. i think he kicked 3-4 goals on the day.

I’d be ok with burning Koch instead of the jumper!

Tex showed enough that you would take him even if his last name wasn’t Wanganeen.

I’m confident it will happen.

I suspect they will fill both positions because it seems EFC is trying to get Hurley up for one farewell game before his retirement.

I too am excited about what i saw from Martin. Seems like one of those slightly daggy unfashionable blokes that is just a clever footballer, a bit like a bailey fritsch type that sneaks through the cracks. I also think he is the type of guy Caracella would work wonders with, as he himself was a similar type of player.

Remember Martin had a month or more less training than the others, as he stayed in WA until after Christmas. The reports on him for the last few intraclub matches have been impressive.

If we rate both kids, take both kids now.

40 … or 50 maybe.

Nice round numbers for a bright new prospect.

Now that the decision to reduce the play-ons to two by eliminating Clarke and Fejo, we have two remaining prospects. Both are excellent potential and add some potency and goal-kicking power to the Forward line. We need them both and with another year of development will be cherry-ripe for 2023. Even with the Davey twins coming in next year it will still be a year or two before they will have any significant impact. Both Wanganeen and Martin can start impacting this year, but boy oh boy, next season they could be a dynamic duo helping lift us to a premiership!

I would be happy with both Tex and Martin, another mid sized forward is not going to be a bad thing.

Do we offer guys like Fejo VFL contracts? Seems to me that having him develop as part of the VFL team might be best for both, giving him a real shot at a rookie slot next year.

Like Ace said Fejo will likely go back to SANFL where he is already settled
