Happy they reduced it to two. Clarke was never going to get a spot with our midfield depth and Fejo, as others described lacked a bit of mongrel.
Tex looks to have taken his opportunity and Martins 4 goals is exactly what he’s there to produce. Will be fun to see what level Tex can get to considering he has not played much recently.

Like many, Wanganeen was my favourite player. He did the most remarkable things I had even seen on the footy field. He absolutely broke my heart when he left. I knew his history at port but I didn’t expect him to leave due to the success he had with us and the dynasty we were building.
The thought of his son playing for the bombers is a prospect that is far too exciting to even consider. I so hope we pick him up and I will be absolutely gutted if we don’t.
What I will say, however, is that I am 100% on board with trucks leadership and his team first approach. Whatever is decided will be in the best interests of the club in 2022 and the future.

Was clear in the intraclub that Clarke was out of the running… he actually played well and is clearly the most developed player out of the 4… but he was never going to break into this midfield unless things have gone very very badly. Unlucky for him as he is a solid player… but surplus to needs.
Personally I hope we take 2 selections and worry about MSD when that comes around.
I think Martin and Tex have shown enough to warrant a spot on the list… and Tex looks to have enough skills to make you think he could find a spot as a small forward.

Correct decision IMO. Why not just come out with it and say we are taking both. We really need as many forwards as we can get.
The Martin selection seems logical to me based on wednesday, but the Tex selection is the one that you want in your heart.
Heart and Mind, lets take both and not shilly shally around.

It seems quite clear that both Tex and Martin will be offered SSP contacts. I think they are 1 year deals, so represent low risk list strategy anyway.
In addition, given the apparent closeness of Tex to the Davey twins, and his clear closeness with NWM, it really isnt too much of a stretch to see us try and unite all 4 boys for the 2024 season. If NWM doesnt sign a contract extension toward the end of 2022 season…

My completely unfounded theory is that we wait until the last possible second to sign/ANNOUNCE in case injuries happen in the practice games and we need to pivot in another direction.
