What a capitulation by Alex after wining the first set lols
This is just his level. He’s as professional and consistent as you’ll get and he’s going to make squillions repeatedly getting to 3rd round/4th round’s of grand slams. The odd quarter final at best if a draw opens up for him.
The match was always on Medvedev’s racquet. He was going to assert his superiority when he felt the need to drop the hammer.
Who do we have apart from Nick that can go all the way and win a slam?
Rinky might be just another Alex
Nobody at the moment.
We literally discussed this on the weekend Nino haha
Every aussie player we have is just a journey men
Popryin and Rinky only two we have
You then look at america and they have a factory of tennis players that get produced
They also have 10x our population.
We don’t have enough people in Australia to be amazing at all the sports we participate in. That’s just reality.
How is alex ranked 13th?
And a very well established college system as well as world renowned tennis academies.
It’s actually more surprising that post Andy Roddick they’ve really had nobody on the men’s side be at the pointy end or be all that relevant at all.
Almost 20 years in the wilderness. It does feel like with their current cohort that more grand slam success might finally be in reach again for them.
He’s not hopeless. Just not elite enough to win a slam.
Rinky will do well to even match Alex.
Will Ash ever comeback
I wouldn’t think so. She’s achieved what she wanted to achieve. She seems very content with that.
He’s had a good year mate.
Won a masters.
won 6 matches against top 10 players this year. (including Med)
But not when it counts in slams
Haha Nino, he’s just not capable of that.
In the last week of slams when the very best in the world are truly locked in and you have to take three sets off them to beat them he simply doesn’t have the weapons or the physical advantages (other than court speed) to prevail against those guys. To give you an idea, he served just one solitary ace today.
He is what he is and he’s having a very successful and lucrative career consistently making 3rd/4th rounds of slams. He just pocketed another 440k AUD for his run here at the US Open.
But there’s no point getting annoyed with him or feeling let down. He tries his best and this is where he max’s out. It’s guys who actually are blessed with the talent and the weapons and the physical advantages but who don’t try their hardest are the ones who irritate me.
Don’t need to win slams to be top 20.
Thought you were asking how he is no.13?
Anyway - you obviously have a grudge against anything short of winning.
Not sure where the conversation goes from here.
True but surley there will be a time when he wants to win a slam has said previously that he’s not just content at getting to 3rd and 4th rounds of slams
