Of course he wants to win a slam. Things don’t just happen because you want them. Given that he already is uber professional and works hard, how else do you think he is going to win a slam? He’s got no more levers to pull.

If he was a prodigy and was lazy af and then decided he badly wanted to win a slam then maybe by maximising his talent through hard work it could happen. But that’s not what this situation is Nino.

He and every other tennis player that makes the 3rd round would all be saying the same thing. They can’t all be winners. De Minaur is getting the most out of his ability already. There’s no magic trick that will raise his ceiling.

Bloody Nick only if he had the comiment of Alex.

De Minaur is probably more spanish than Aussie. We are lucky he plays for us because he feels australian.

I wonder sometimes if thats to do sometimes with tennis australia/AIS money. (Not that i know hes been beneficiary of any).

Nino should be worried about the state of Australian women’s tennis - There is nothing coming up through the pipeline.

Thats true we always have to rely on a cooked Ajla.

Ash retiring hurts she would have lead thousands of young girls and boys in chosing Tennis as a sport if she kept playing and won at least a dozen slams

She was never going to win a dozen slams. I reckon 6 or 7 max

Agree with all of this. The Demon is the Ozzie version of Tim Henman. A good player, who got the most out of himself, but who just didn’t have the weapons to go with the heavy hitter of his era such as Sampras.

TBF on Henman he made the semis of a major half a dozen times in a pretty decent era but yeah just quite couldn’t take the next step.

TBH I’d be shocked if De Minaur broke into the top 10.
Yeah, he’s not far off it in terms of pure ranking but it feels miles off.
He’s done well to make the top 20 and that feels about his maximum level.
He simply doesn’t have the weapons to go higher.

I reckon Henman was a better player than De Minaur will ever be. Henman got to 4 in the world and as @Aceman said made half a dozen semi finals.

Like @barry_day said, it’s very hard to see De Minaur ever making top 10

In De Minaur’s favour though…… Katie Boulter!!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Cute tennis couple

Agree about the relative abilities, Henman was the the better player. My nominating of him was not meant to be a direct comparison, rather it was meant to show how both players were similar in that they got the best out of themselves, and went as far as they could go without reaching the absolute top of the tennis tree.

All three of them quarter finalists 10 years later. Pretty cool.

Semi finals nearly all locked in. Just one qtr to go.

Alcaraz it is. As expected.

I’m going to predict a Muchova vs Sabalenka final in the women’s and the obvious Djokovic vs Alcaraz final in the men’s.

Still not too late to setup an OnlyFans Genie
