Today I Learned

As in Marvel will have a Saturday afternoon game and a Saturday night game on the same day.

Cool cool cool, but is there a Friday or Sunday game?
Or these days Thursday, I suppose.

In any case, the stadium has a damn roof.

Next week there is also a Sunday game at Marvel.

FWIW, I don’t really think the barrier to curtain raisers is ground maintainance. It’s whenever they’ve been put on (Essendon had at least two last year), it’s pretty empty.

I don’t know if there is a significant audience anymore for spending that long at the football. I reckon for most people a single game is more than enough.

Have you broken your pinky? Looks like it’s going in a different direction

I don’t agree with it and think there should be curtain raisers.
I’m just mentioning the reasons I’ve heard and basically cost is the big one.
The MCG for instance isn’t going to want to pay hundreds of staff, security etc for an extra say 4hrs per day.
They would expect someone to foot the bill for that and I dare say the AFL has crunched their numbers and decided they are better off playing at suburban grounds.
At the SANFL we always get at least the Reserves and League and sometimes a third game of either a women’s our underage game.
Even at my local league I go and watch my nephew in under 11’s and they play U11’s, U13’s, U15’s, U18’s, Reserves, League, Womens all in the same day at the same venue for $16 and the grounds handle that just fine

lol.
So you’re saying the Adelaide Oval can and does cope?

Adelaide Oval and the MCG could cope with 12 games per week realistically but they don’t want anymore than 4-5 per work and use the bullshit excuse of wear and tear when in reality it’s all about the $$$$.
As I said, last weeks SANFL showdown the SANFL had to pay a fee to get the ground opened earlier.

I don’t like the reasoning but I can’t see it changing anytime soon

And risk a slight rustling?

You weirdo.

Given there is zero chance of most younger people having any certainty in their lives, including of their lives, I find enthusiastic, vapid consumerism to be a very reasonable response.

How many houses do you reckon they’ll be able to buy if they leave the doll on the shelf?

A claimed 45 means you were probably doing 51.

-3 for speed gun error, and the other -3 is “stop wasting the Court’s time” buffer. The latter is not broadly publicised, because they wanna appear tough.

Both correct. Yeah I had surgery on that finger about 7-8 years ago. Broke it playing cricket, needed 2 pins inserted to get the displaced fracture back where it should be. Looks terrible but pain free and it’s functional at least.

It’s really not fair to have the ANZAC day game on that day, lots of people have other commitments and can’t make it.

Soccer is a reason to be committed, not committed.

If you can’t afford it upfront, you need to put it on Laybyby.

Thank you @Heptides and the US ■■■■ show thread.

I had my first traffic offence in 25 years last year, and had it removed this way.

For less than 10km/h over the limit, they remove it if you apply, and haven’t had any other traffic offences in the previous 12 months
