Trade Discussion 2018 thread #1 - We’re gonna need a bigger boat for the wave pool!

Luey is a no brainer for the cannon - totally cooked.

I have a soft spot for Dea but he is probably surplus to requirements. Long doesn’t appear up to it. Hartley is a bit of a battler as well. Brown is the best of the lot but we may wish to keep him up our sleeve as a sweetener in a trade as he’s another non-critical signing.

@wimmera1

I made one using the maximum 100 wheel positions…

Edit…doesn’t come up with the full 100 when linked ???

Did that wrangle really only start 10 days ago? Feels like it’s been a month.

Brown non critical…I disagree.
He was was probably one of our best when smack went down, he ran and presented all day and then some?
He played Stewart’s role far better than Stewart

I don’t think jackets will pay 2 x 1st rounders (this year’s & next) for Shiel. He’s not worth it on 2017 form. This year’s 2nd & next year’s 1st is the most we should pay, but I’d start the negotiation at 3 bottle tops. Gaff as a FA, Shiel as above & still keep this year’s 1st Round pick=nice midfield.

Out of interest, who was the steak knives in the Edwards & Aylett deal?

EDIT: Stupid auto correct

Well it certainly wasn’t the son of god.

Which one of you is the smart one, I can never remember?

Wallis it is then…

Wouldn’t be selling the farm to get Shiel. Certainly not two 1st rounds.

Not if last night’s performance was anything to go by.

Perhaps, but the fact is that we have signed Stewart already (which should say something about how the club is thinking) and Brown is 28 next year so he’s getting on a bit. I don’t think he’ll be delisted by any means, but they might feel he has some trade currency and that with the likes of Smack and Stewart, his position is already pretty well covered.

Yeah, I think Treloar is & was a better player & of course was 3 years younger when traded - they can’t be worth the same.

tears of joy clearly

Dawson Simpson is the only one that fits those criteria and would be somewhat useful for us as a stopgap option.

I am hearing that Geelong, after years of not being involved in the first riound are looking for a very early pick. They have dangled WA born Duncan in front of Freo who are interested in the event that they lose Neale.

This might be controversial, but I’d rather us keep our pick 8 or 9 or whatever it ends up being than give it away for Shiel. Shiel is a handy player but he’s not going make that big a difference to the team. I’d rather Gaff, who we can get probably for free, and has the silk Shiel hasn’t. And I reckon in a bumper draft like this year we can pick up a quality player early who can make an impact and have a full career in the red and black ahead of him.
