Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

Its a shame but seems like our NGA is finally starting to produce. Essendon being mentioned as having legit NGA options last year and again this is very pleasing.

Scott West 2.0

At least we have Huss as our next Olarenshaw.

Maybe it’s a blessing.
I would complain about using our first rounders to match for a young ruck, as good as he is.

You do realise that Melbourne missed out on Mac Andrew because the NGA rules were changed the year he was drafted … and then changed back in 2024. That would be excruciating.

Saints also missed out on a very handy Hawthorn mid. Cam Mackenzie.

A lot of people seem to believe that one player doesn’t make a difference though.

As a first gen aussie of sri lankan heritage, I really wish this could’ve happened.

See I think we missed out on McKenzie. He was the obvious pick for our needs.

No no no

JUST USSSSSSSSS!!!

I was torn.

I rated Bailey humphrey, bigger inside mid / forward, but his goal kicking was a bit errant.
liked idea of getting Phillipou, good bloodline - forward - potential to be a mid down the track.
liked that tsatas was rated a potential pick 1 through the year.

If we were higher, Wardlaw was my favourite though, we were no chance thanks to their compo pick for McKay. hammy issues with him, and Essendon would be a worry too.

Did they change the rule form one parent to two ?

Not that I’m aware. My understanding is that you’re eligible if at least one parent is born overseas in the relevant countries/regions.

Weird that he wouldn’t be eligible than

Why? Neither of his parents were born overseas. His Dad is the one of Sri Lankan heritage and he missed out on being born over there by a year.

It’s not like they can’t just get some picks from Gold Coast - they might have to take on some of their first round talent as well, but its just a tap they need to turn on.

To winning a premiership. To winning a few extra games? Different story.

You mean Reiding.

Might be just me but I think those two things are pretty closely related.

What do you mean, if dealing with geelong it’s up to West coast to give them the picks and the player
