Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

I think if the hypothetical deal is in our favour we should do it. If it’s not in our favour we should not.

If Harley picks us then we get a deal done.

Yep but A player doesn’t care. They nominate where they want to go.

If Harley wants out, It will be a decision for WC between holding too his contract and risk losing him for less the next year or trading with his choice of clubs.

We are just as reliant on Merrett.

Reid would be stepping into a relatively strong midfield at Essendon, so I don’t think there’s any issues there. He’d just make it more balanced.

It honestly has fark-all to do with who Harley ‘picks.’
He’s contracted until the end of ‘26.
Oh, but I want to go to Geelong!
I want to go to Hawthorn!

Guess what, Harley?
It’s nice to want things.
You’ll be playing with us next year.
In the WAFL if need be, but we’re not giving you to your preferred club for a hill of beans.

I was refering to if he picks us we get the deal done with our 2 first rounders

If we are not the front runners this year, it might be best we head to the draft and Reid plays next year with Eagles, then hopefully we are a team on the rise with promise and still have cash available for Harley to get next year.

It’s less about the midfield being weak, it’s more about the rest of the ground being really poor. Both ends of the ground are in a very bad way and it will take more than just improvement from our young guys already on the list to fix them.

They will trade him if he requests it.

West Coast aren’t Dodoro dumb.

And they will get a bounty in return

You can refer to what you like.
He’s contracted.

Harley can be the best man at Dangerfield’s wedding, WC aren’t trading him for checks notes
#14, #32 and Neale.

He goes this year or he extends his contract. I think it’s just pure fantasy to suggest either party will allow his contract to run down

And Hawthorn currently have #3 #21 and #55.

Or hey, you could bet on Geelong or Hawthorns next first round pick.
Sound like a winner?

I’m not saying we’ll get him, but I’ll tell you this for free.
Geelong and Hawthorn are Not getting him.

Cats and Hawks can trade there 2026 + 2027 picks as well.

Yeah.
Love those 12+ picks.
Nom nom nom.

But you know, fine.
Present your best case scenario.

Long way to go yet. Hawks and Geelong haven’t got enough yet and may not get enough but there are plenty of ways to make it happen if you really wanted to. I just don’t believe either party will allow the contract to run down. He either extends this year or he is gone.

Again. Fine.
You want to present #3 and Hawthorn’s future first (#15?) and your choice of the third row?

Let’s hear it!

Jeremy Cameron went to Geelong for 13,15 and 20.

I’d bet Hawthorn could split 3 and offer very similar.

I think that’s at least equal weight if not more for Reid.

To be clear…
You think WC is turning their back on better offers and trading Reid for #13 #15 and #20?

Hawthorn won’t have pick 3 by seasons end.

FARK CARLTON are poo at the moment, but they won’t finish bottom 4.
