Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

Parish is contracted. Not signed under his watch.

Signed in 2023… Under his watch…

And as Brad said when asked about Harley Reid
on The Agenda Setters this week he is involved/his opinion is included in List management decisions (as it should be). So yes Parish was definitely signed under Brad’s watch

Im merely speculating.

Throw up options in how Geelong could even entertain trying to get Harley too their club. I don’t see it with picks only, I see it with a player trade also. WCE won’t want a young player they’ll be chasing a senior player with experience.

I’m sure Brad wanted to keep Parish… but probably didn’t have anything to do with the contract.

We should dangle Ridley and see if we can get a 1st, maybe the Lions S&C team can fix him, we clearly can’t.

Honestly the best result for Essendon would be for Reid to just stay at the Eagles for the final year of his contract.

We then use this year’s draft to secure 2 Top 10 draft picks ( a key forward and best available mid)

We get Hussein and Adam through NGA picks

That’s 4 quality players and we haven’t touch our two second round picks!!!

Trade out Guelfi, Menzie, Jones for lower draft capital to secure our NGA picks

Trade in Starcevich

Then in 26 we take Koby Bewick as a F/ S

Harley coming out of contract will then be an easier get. Maybe a first and future first?

Agree. Hit the draft this year.

Cal and the other click bait media heroes labelling this draft as “weak” before the champs is laughable.

Next year we’ll be in a far better position to trade having brought in more young talent this year.

We would have to use those second round picks to match the bids

But agreed. 4 players in the top 30 would be a great launching pad for the club to be more aggressive next year

Cats issue is why would any player want to go play for basket case eagles.

  • Tanner Bruhn might want a new start in a new city.
  • Lawson Humphries - head back to WA as part of deal.
  • Brad Close to Adelaide or Port for a good draft pick or pick upgrade
  • Mitch Edwards developing ruck, might want to head home to WA.
  • Shannon Neale WA (probably harder to replace for them, so may keep him, unless he wanted to go home.)

so maybe
Eagles Humphries, Crows first, Cats 2026 F1, Cats 2027 F1
Crows Cats first, Close
Cats Reid Eagles 2026 F3, Eagles 2027 F3

If there was a fuss when Mass went, there will be a huge fuss if Tsatas leaves and reaches his potential. Will eventually be a gun if given the opportunity and played in his best position.

It sounds like Bruhn is going to be getting a new start somewhere else. Not good from what Ive heard.

Are you implying he may have his freedoms forcibly removed?

Think its pretty much common knowledge now that yeah he’s in a bit of strife.
Dont think he would be included in any trade scenario.

Pretty crazy situation then

There would only not be a fuss if we had success.

people still talk about Ted Richards leaving and having success with Sydney, yet Hawk fans rarely rue Josh kennedy, due to their own success in the period.

Think he’s a comedian these days.

I think of Chapman and Kelly coming to our club, they did the team thing first and foremost

They only came because of Bomber.
Also Kelly was a dons fan as a kid. and helping out due to saga.

Chapman was getting extra coin not available at cats.

Imagine if Bomber had of stayed he would have pulled more veterans accross to help with standards.
