Trade talk - from October 2024 (Part 7)

But look if the media is saying he’s on the move to Essendon.

Nek minnit

Harley Reid signs 10 year mega deal with the eagles.

There’s only a couple of segments all week which properly dissect matches anymore.

And you need it to be done by Fox/7 because you need all the different camera footage to do it well.

Will they take Goldy?

All Blitz negatifity I have been thinking pick 1 or 2.

This is beautiful

Would 3 first rounders and a second rounder get the deal done?

If Harley was in play I’m assuming at least one of the other midfielders would look for a trade out. Would definitely result in a midfield squeeze.

That’s way too much imo

I would rather us use the 3 first rounders in the draft, than spend it all on one player

I wouldn’t. I’m happy with 3

Not sure that West Coast have got the draft capital to make that happen. They will need to use picks on Chad Warner so won’t have enough picks to send to Geelong.

The Rising Star Award is a cursed award anyway…ever notice that anyone whosever one the thing has never gone back to back?

Think about it…

Everyone’s going to say ā€œEssendonā€ just because he’s got mates there. I’m not sure about that.

It’s fine to say, that he’s more likely to stay…… which is true for most trades in the AFL.

But surely these clowns can provide more input than ā€œhe has mates thereā€.

Maybe talk about the fact we have a huge hole in our salary cap……. Or perhaps the fact that we have a wealth of draft capital to spend.

But seriously, this is lazy from more mayo Ralph.

This feels suspiciously like when a commentator tries to put the mozz on a player lining up for goal.

They are all down to a man barracking as hard as humanly possible for this not to be the actual outcome.

And they should, because if the cards do fall essendons way…

What you mean? Rhys Palmer went on to have a stellar career!

I’d obviously love to get Reid, but Martin is our second best player with a lot of scope for improvement. You don’t trade those guys, the aim is to acquire more A grade talent for picks.

Huge difference between three first rounders in the P1-10 bracket and three first rounders P10-18.

I’t’s impossible to properly debate value using that terminology.

Lalor > Reid

More to come.

They would 100% demand Martin in a Reid deal, but we would also 100% say no. My guess is we’d start at 2 first rounders and finish with 3 first rounders, possibly with a second coming back our way, possibly not.

Hobbs could be steak knives in any deal. If they wanted a mature player, Parish would be ideal for us but don’t see that happening.

I reckon Martin would also say no
