Nah, I always respect the players that choose loyalty over the pay packet. Makes me want him more not less.
Love that from Nate
Youâd be struggling to tell the difference between Worpel and DP3 and wonder whether either is better than George Stevens
And Scrimshaw started at Gold coast
Yeah not saying that Dear, Lewis or Scrimshaw would be trade value exclusively for Gold Coasts. More they would potentially offload them for picks and trade for the likes of King, Merrett or Humphry even.
I was just thinking about the 2016 season and think we are going about things the wrong way. Rather than just targeting players like Neale, why not just do what we did in 2016 and see who is delisted/force retired from an good team and bring them in just to get some senior players onto the list.
We could offer them good money and set expectations that they are there to mentor and develop our kids. This may mean playing in the VFL a majority of the year.
Jamarrah arrives at the Suns, Suns become â â â â . Coincidence?
Loyalty is measured at the end of a contract, not at the signing of the contract.
Am I too drunk or is that the same reference point?
Youâre drunk.
Merrett was loyal in signing the contract.
Merrett was loyal in extending the contract for more money.
Merrett was not so loyal in seeing the contract out once the front loading was over.
Well⌠that doesnât really make sense. Loyalty isnât something that can be isolated to just one point in time. Iâm loyal and faithful to my wife Monday to Thursday nights but weekends are my timeâŚ.
He isnât at the end of his contract and I donât think renewing a contract for more money necessarily demonstrates loyalty (it was probably just in his best interest at the time). Loyalty isnât doing whatâs in your own interest, itâs respecting and looking after the other party (sometimes at your own expense). When has he demonstrated this? And how is that something that can only be demonstrated at the end of a contract, it is demonstrated at the signing of a contract(not extracting every cent you can) & during the contract (giving everything you can on and off the field to improve the club). He has been a great player but that doesnât make him loyal at any point in time.
Is there a possibility we pick up the ruckman B.Dowling from our VFL side in the pre season draft
Edit: In case itâs already been discussed sorry I havenât kept up to date with this topic
I think I heard on Fox when they were showing the Essendon vs Lions VFL game that Richmond are into him. Not sure if itâs a rookie spot, ND or SSP but Iâm sure thatâs what they said. But he is an interesting prospect for sure.
Would be quite funny if scrimshaw hypothetically ended back up at the suns
Having watched a bit of him this year I sure wouldnât be against it.
Even more so if we manage to get more rookie spots
Apparently port have contacted parishâs management âŚ
@Aceman any truth?
More truth in Angelina Jolie trying to get on to him for a root I reckon
The rumour was floated over here today but have not heard anything credible and TBH I doubt there is much to it.
Port have been pretty adamant that they wonât be giving up trade capital but I guess it could be worked into any deal for pick shuffles etc.
I think they were saying Dowling trialled with Richmond for an SSP spot last offseason.
If King does nominate Hawthorn, I wonder if there might be no match, then a three way deal between GC, Hawks and us where Hawks mysteriously pay high for Merrett, and we accept very little for Ridley.
Something like:
- Gold Coast donât match and (initially) get #6.
- Hawks pay us #16, #26, F1, FF1 for Merrett with us paying his 2027 salary
- We pay Ridleyâs salary and trade him and #16 and FF1 for #6.
Effectively
- Gold Coast get #16, Hawks FF1 and Ridley for King + salary cap relief.
- Hawks get Merrett and King for #16, #26, F1, FF1
- We get #6, #27 and Hawks F1 for Merrett and Ridley.
