Plenty there to get Merrett and King

Pendlebury, Zorko and Dangerfield. No draft capital cost. Three leaders who know success. Could even rotate/rest across AFL and VFL in the season.

And also âone and doneâ seasons.
This path means we wont be forced to hand over multi-year, multi million dollar contracts⌠which handcuff our list management.
It means youâre bringing in Elite-Elite leadershipâŚâŚ not Temu Leadership.
Ants:
If Hawks have to use picks to get Merrett and King do you think Gold Coast are getting more than that? Hawks have three firsts and two seconds. However, the 2027 first is really a second

They have two seconds. They traded theirs to Brisbane to move #22 up on draft night.
For future picks you must keep either a second and third or a first. So they canât trade out those future seconds unless they somehow get another second in.
So considering their 2027 first is really a second round pick, they have two firsts and three seconds (plus players) to trade with.

Iâve still got them having 26,27 and 34 this year which is 3 seconds.
Unless my maths is wrong of course
I think thatâs correct.
As GC slide theyâll have to make the decision whether pick 6 is better than late first round picks. Hawthorn might not have to give up anything for King
In my perfect List management scenario, the list management would look like this.
Out: Merrett, Parish, Ridley, Redman, Langford.
In: Pendlebury, Dangerfield, Zorko.
.
B: McGrath, McKay, Nguyen
HB: Roberts, Reid, Pendlebury
C: Zorko, Sharp, Martin
HF: Butler, Caddy, Dangerfield
F: El-Ackar, May, Kako
R: Bryan, Robey, Durham.
I: Farrow, Wright, Johnson, Clarke, Duursma.
Wonât we need FF1 for Bewick and/or Darwish?
PS Whatâs FF1?
Not sureâŚthe booing in 2019 was for the umpires, not Pendlebury
Heâs never done anything awful. Well, except playing for and captaining Collingwood.
Future first pick.
Weâd have to bid on Walker then. We want that extra pick.
Howâs that different from F1?
F1 2027 FF1 2028 - in this case (I think)
Hawks have picks 16, 26, 27 and 34 and going after Ben King. If Suns match, will force a trade which is Hawks still need something more to get a deal for King across the line. If they donât match (and at this stage of the ladder), Suns would have pick 6 in compensation which is where King was originally drafted at and probably isnât worthwhile. Jack Scrimshaw is being floated as an option for trade value, along with others in Calsher Dear and Mitch Lewis.
whats the bet that hawks / suns do something dodgy like
Ben King for Compo pick 6.
hawks send 16 + Scrimshaw to Suns.

They traded their 2026 second + #22 to Brisbane for #18, which they used on Schubert. They traded #10 back twice to get two 2026 seconds and drafted Nairn.
So they traded one out, got two in.
They also got compo for Worpel and did several other pick swaps

One âFâ is a pick from the next draft of the round specified by the number. In 2026 a F2 is a 2027 second round pick.
Two âFFâ is a pick from the draft two years along of the round specified by the number. In 2026 a FF3 is a 2028 third round pick.
Which is why I had us getting the 2027 first (F1) and Gold Coast the 2028 first (FF1).

Feel like weâre gonna have to open our minds to some older guys coming into the club this year.
Howe would walk in and lead our backline. Heâd be huge for Reid imo.
We need on field leaders and may have to settle for lesser names.
Rebuilds donât work if you donât have legit leaders at the club and its painfully clear thatâs a capability we need to import in, because it doesnât exist on our current list.
