You’ve thought that through.
I spend all day negotiating with a 4 year old…this gives me the real world experience of the hustle and bustle of AFL trade strategy. You’re welcome.
We always bring up the “Steak knives” suggestion to all of our trade scenarios but has anyone thought about packaging up some ACTUAL steak knives to satisfy other clubs? If that doesn’t work, we could even try a real good complete knife set that includes steak knives. I know I would be won over with a proper nice knife set. I’m sure if we passed the hat around at the next Blitz BBQ we could probably get this trade over the line.
Would take Wines over DeGoey any day.
I’ve mentioned him before but I think Trent Dumont is potentially the best fit for possibly cheap and gettable inside mid. His form is very up and down but his best is exactly what we need. Not sure about contracts or if he still has some attitude issues but maybe he could flourish at a new club.
I’ve got a set of Lagouille? ones. They are great. I wouldn’t give them up for De Goey though.
I was more thinking along the lines of a ‘Wedding register’ set of knives that are in a reasonably good wooden block but not THAT good because you still resent the groom for not inviting you to the bucks party. I’m sure we can figure out a compromise. What do the recruiting team do all day?
them’s some good lookin’ sharpies
I think saints might have a few inside mid types we could get…
Jack Steele comes out of contract 2018.
Armitage 2019 might want to consider trading elesewhere as they prefer playing kids.
Players out of contract 2018
Crows - Sloane, Ellis-Yolmen
Bears/Lions - Christensen is out of contract. not inside mid though.
Blues - M Kennedy
Pies - Aish, DeGoey, Greenwood
Freo - Mundy (move back to melbourne finsih career, offer coaching opportunities.)
Dees - Brayshaw
WCE - Gaff
Dogs - Wallis, Libba (coming back from ACL)
not a lot on offer
I hear there’s a half decent medium forward being left languishing in the VFL looking for opportunities.

I think that’s more so
“what we think we offer”
“what we actually offer”
What we could to go get De Goey
Trade our pick 4 to someone mid table for their first and second round picks
Trade that first rounder to the pies for De Goey
That’s what it would take to get the deal done without trading away any of our players.
No chance you can get Degoey for an early 2nd or late second Pies will ask for a 1st and rightly so.
I don’t get how it’s possible to choose to undervalue a player like De Goey. Not in a million years is he worth a second rounder or even a late first. He’s playing great footy, thus the desire for him, on top of a mountain of faith and work that Collingwood have put into getting him on track. They’ll ask for a top 10 pick as all of we would if positions were reversed.
Save the pick for the draft, take Bytels or a player of similer ilk.
You want to give up pick 4 for degeoy and a second.
Why???
I’m worried that Dodoro will burn our top 5 pick on a tall when we clearly need an inside mid
I kinda think from a list perspective we need to put a line through a lot of it, the experienced players that want to go can go, those that want to stay and help guide in a new era, a new essendon can stay. the draft sanctions set this club as far back as the attitudinal issues stemming from 2000s. we need to change the coaching/ development/ scouting/ drafting/ list strategy at the club.
we’re building a list for a style of footy that’s 20 years too old. we’re playing a style that’s 10 tears old and we have so many inbetween players that are flexible enough to play 3 roles but not excel at any. We need a clean slate somehow.
Hasn’t Wines had some hammy issues of late?
