Wines at 22nd best

Wines is overrated in my opinion.

I don’t watch a great deal of port but he doesn’t stand out to me as a game changer so selling the farm doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

Francis has the capacity to be a player that can really impact a game like a Rance or a Hurley.

I think it would be a massive mistake to move on a player like that unless you were uncertain of his future.

Can very much be a game breaker IMO

Does not get knocked off footy, gets it out and huge physical heat to the runners. This is what we don’t have in the team.

Or unless he wants to leave

Yeah, that’s what I was alluding to with uncertain future.

If he wants to stay I would be holding onto him though.

He has star written all over him and will be considered the best of his draft year at some stage.

The Port fans are pretty tough on him and as much as they love his grunt and ball winning ability they lay into him for his poor disposal and shocking goal kicking.

Wallis has elite hands, excellent in the contest, hard at the ball and the man. However he struggles on the outside, slow and he is average kick. Bevo is all about guys that can go inside and out and play a few different positions which is why he isn’t getting a game this year. Wallis would be our best clearance, pure inside guy and bring some needed toughness to our side but he is limited.

Seriously, McVeigh should never, ever play for us. If he wants another playing year attached to his coaching deal tell him to nick off.

As a depth player. I wouldn’t want him taking a spot on the best 22 unless he earns it.

he wouldnt come as a depth player though, thats the thing, hed want a guarantee that hell play the majority of games

That’s up to them to sort out. I agree I don’t want him playing every week but I want his leadership around the club

The McVeigh story was around last year and then he re-signed.

Highly doubt it.

And I don’t see going after guys like Wallis. I just don’t see that he adds anything over what Clarke offers.

Draft depth…don’t give up anything for it.

Is there any flankers or small/medium forwards that we can recruit. We can convert them to midfielders

Exactly right…the only teams these deals work for are ones down the bottom stacked with good young talent but a lack of veteran leadership.

Hence why Melbourne got Jordan Lewis and the Lions got Luke Hodge.

More than happy for us to employ Jarrod McVeigh as an assistant coach, and if he wants to still play footy he can sign with the VFL team.

The only other reason a team would sign McVeigh is if they are topping up to try and win a flag and they has a weakness in the role he plays. That is not the position we are in.

Wallis is the player we hope Clarke would become.

Clarke’s VFL form this year would likely be better than Wallis.

Where’s the stats men at?

That said the game Wallis played 1st one back from injury for Dogs at AFL level was very impressive.

I’m convinced that no one on Blitz has seen Wallis play.
