Training Saturday 6/6/20

He lost the '87 Masters to Larry Mize when he chipped in from 40 metres on the 2nd playoff hole.

I can see us developing the skill the speed, ball movement also the workrate but can we develop that stealy toughness the best sides have?

Can’t wait for round 2 and this season.

Interesting to read that Langford did so well playing predominantly as an inside mid. I’ve always thought that he’d be a far better winger/half-forward type and - based on the little I’ve seen this year - it looked like he was set for more of an outside role.

Either way, great to see that he hopefully looks set to improve again this season.

To me watching him in the VFL he played the inside mid role really well, was usually when he backed himself in and didn’t worry too much about anyone else. Looked the opposite when doing that at AFL level.

Langford with self belief would become a very dangerous AFL player, he has the tools to be a game changer.

I had Redman & Snelling down as locks for round 2 but given that neither trained today, I wonder if they’ll be in line for selection or not.

Do we know that the issues are with those two?

No idea unfortunately, I think Snelling is more likely than Redman though at this stage.

Yes I agree with that, and I think the current game plan suits him perfectly, it forces him to be much more instinctive.

This is probably a silly question but I’ll ask anyway - are you noticing a big difference in interaction with the coaches now that Truck is taking a lead on things?

Only asking as the training reports had Truck as getting vocal when players weren’t adhering to the structure/set up. Which I thought was interesting as I hadn’t heard that happening last seasoning during training drills.

Thank you

Apart from a few eye catching quarters, he didn’t do a lot prior to his knee. Jake Long could look at him and say what has he done that I haven’t to retain his spot!

It’s time Langers

I reckon Langford is a a slow burn. Outright wrong to say he hasn’t got better- he definitely has each year- but not fast enough for some.

Laverde is interesting. I continue to be a fan, bit it wouldn’t surprise me to see him at St Kilda or Hawthorn next year.

We’ve seen glimpses of what an elite midfielder DP3 can be. Hope to see he will take a bit of a jump this year :crossed_fingers:

…but but this is our weakness. We need cripps, nat the fyfe, and The Bont squashed into one player…call him Crappy Font.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Laverde on no list at all next year

I can’t say I’ve noticed a huge difference this year, there was quite a large level of interaction last year as well.

How prominent a role does Caracalla play in these training sessions? Can you see him exerting a larger influence than say all other coaches?

Well if they actually play him in the midfield than we just might.
