We’re persevering with Dept Q. Finding it difficult to adjust to the implausibility factor which ruins the flow.
True crime aficionados should give ‘The Push’ on SBSOD a go. Three-part doco, set in Scotland. Follows the investigation into the death of a young Scottish woman of Pakistani descent who falls from Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. She and the husband hadn’t been getting on well. Made me tear up.
Tried watching the first episode the other night but found it a bit cringey - I assume it gets better with age?
I’ve watched two of the new season - both been great.
I’ll persist with it then ![]()
I liked from the start last year though. Guy cracks me up, and I got into Aaron’s style after an episode or two. It also depends on the guests at times.
I hope all you illiterate ■■■■■ can ■■■■■■■ learn something then…
Oh look his at it again.
Those final 2 episodes of Clarkson farm were very stressful. I can see why he has had health troubles recently
Expecting illiterate people to read an insult seems a bit self-defeating.
there was a bit of “you already know what’s going on here” about it
think of it as “game show from hell” rather than a fun quiz
highly recommend getting on iview and watching episode 2 of season 1
Finished Department Q. Fair example of FITH syndrome there.
IMDB makes it seem that the Danish movies are done by Prime…I’d heard SBS.
Season 8 Episode 1 of 9-1-1.
Buzzkill.
If you are a fan of Z Grade movies, then this is worth a look. What makes it even better is that this is a proper, serious(?), decent budget US series, so…almost…all of the actors are playing it completely straight.
Had me in absolute fits of laughter. So much delightful stupidity, as a ‘Bee-nado’ hits LA.
The B storyline involving prisoner transport is less fun.
Just binged Dept Q (9 episodes) with Mathew Goode (Imitation Game). An English cop working in Scotland. His character is a devout non-conformist, a theme we have all seen done a hundred times over, still used to good effect here. He is called into a gruesome murder scene where he and his partner are shot. They both survive to varying degrees, but a young PC is shot dead. Goode gets called in to set up a small investigation unit concentrating on cold cases. Three plot lines are woven together, providing plenty of twists and turns but it runs out of a little steam over the last couple of episodes and the final reveal was a bit under whelming, it being a little too pat and predictable. 7.5/10.
Agree with much of what you say. Thought the character sketching and arcs all followed well-used tropes. The writing was uneven and predictable but the premise was interesting enough to get me through, although I grumbled a fair bit. 6/10.
I’ve been watching The Survivors on Netflix. I’ve read everything by Jane Harper but the good thing about the series is that I can’t remember a damn thing out of the book, so everything’s new to me.
I didn’t particularly enjoy the Force of Nature book probably because I hate those team togetherness jaunts but I quite enjoyed the film.
We watched The Survivors on Netflix, and finished it last night. Terrible. ‘Home and Away’ on steroids.
Got five minutes in. Everything that’s amateur about our productions. Ugh
Admittedly the previous two shows set in Tasmania, I didn’t get close to episode 2. Deadloch and Bay of Fires.
