You’ve just reminded me of the process of getting my eye in when reading James Kelman and Irvine Welsh books. Swedgin and greetin and all that.
Saw S1-3 of this one quite a few years ago. Don’t remember where or how. For some reason S4 was not available so I’ve not seen the conclusion. Spiral is a good comparison but from memory this one is somewhat more violent.
Greeting is crying. I have no idea what swedgin is.
Winching is kissing. Which is odd to think about when you think about the 4WD culture that prevails in rural areas. Yet maybe not surprising… I guess what happens in Wonangatta stays in Wonangatta…
It’s the flatness. Listen to any Pom or Scot, no matter how unintelligible, the voices are musical. Oz accents are dead, flat, monotonous.
There’s been a very evident American strain in the voices of young people in Australia for some time. I’ll give you the drunk Glaswegian
Just like our cities, become homogenous, or ‘global’. There used to be inflection by the suburb in some places, and definitely state to state. Less tv, more emphasis on diction in schooling, and on the other side probably more distinct social classes
re: taskmaster ep 8
“we’ve got the same juice.”
might be the most deranged throwaway line i’ve ever heard on tv. had to pause i was laughing so much
You should try “This City is Ours”
Set in Liverpool.
I had to resort to subtitles.
It’s masterful at becoming slow again just when you think it’s going to pick up.
Giving ‘The Waterfront’ (Netflix) series a go only because the lead dude (who played the buzzcut FBI agent in ‘Mindhunter’) is Mrs Two Dogs favourite hunk.
Anyways, it’s a story of a family in North Carolina whose restaurant and fishing business leads them to ‘cross the line’. Lots of male models steaming up the screen, actresses getting hot and sweaty, and lots of murder and mayhem. Absolute garbage.
Has anybody sat through “Black Sails” in it’s entirety?
Watched episode 1 last night and was left only whelmed.
Does it get better than an hour of bad acting and good ■■■■?
I enjoyed it, gets better for sure and the storylines are generally historically inpired. Has some great performances and some less so but great atmosphere and good action, recommend perserverance.
Thank you, this has persuaded me to continue.
Well, this and the ■■■■.
elite episode.
Mentioned “This City is Ours” earlier, have finished it now, will be a one series affair I believe. British drug org trying to go from small time to larger time and dealing with the shenanigans that inevitably ensue. Sean Bean as the aging kingpin looking to get out, and that weird bloke that looks like a short, angular, pointy Nicholas Hoult, James Nelson Joyce (late of “A Thousand Blows”).
Not bad at all, believable characters and good tension throughout. Heavy, heavy Liverpool dialogue can be hard to follow but never bad enough that the gist is lost.
And of course, Sean Bean is killed off early sparking upheaval and turmoil
The prize task banter has been top notch every episode
Just finished S2 of Criminal Code on Netflix.
It’s a very entertaining cop show from Brazil.
The ■■■■ arrrrrr wonderful
I couldn’t believe it when she said it
Funniest part was it took the rest of the cast a second or two to take in what she had said as well
Jason is in my top 5 contestants of all time. He has been everything I was hoping for and more
The Bear S4 is out, will probably start that soon.
