TV show thread (2022-?)

If this is a reference, I don’t get it.
If not, then sure, why not?

A riddle who?

Totally expecting barnz to drop the punchline like this

Brassic on Netflix

Possibly should be in the non-English thread, but I couldn’t get the subtitles up.

It’s a group of mates in or around Manchester, up to all sorts of mischief. Michelle Keegan is the girlfriend of one (and the reason I started watching). She was a Coronation St veteran, later as an army medic in Our Girl, then Ten Pounds Poms.

Looks like a bit of fun.

Just powered through the final series of Squid Game.

It had some moments, but overall, it was pretty damn sh*t.

It still had some pretty good twists/gut punches! ‘Hide & Seek’ was inevitable, but works better for that.

But in the final challenge the baby doesn’t push anyone off the final tower after the button is pressed. Per the rules, the baby is therefore eliminated. WTF?!?

3 or 4 eps in. I feel like they’ve taken the gratuitous violence to a new, unnecessary level. Is ok, but not a patch on the previous seasons.

I didn’t like season 2 or 3 of Squid Game

It felt like they missed the point. All the characters were greedy arseholes and the violence was gratuitous. Plus i think 5 men discussing how to kill a baby in a show that is dead pan serious is crossing the lines of decency for what? Just to shock? Kinda pathetic

That’s OK.

Most of the players in the last round didn’t seem to know the rules either, no matter how many times it was spelled out blatantly for them.

You could hear the plot mechanics churning over in that last game to get us the very obvious place that Gi-Hun was going to have to sacrifice himself for the baby. Despite the fact that it took a series of stupid and out-of-character decisons by all involved to get to that conclusion.

Nice work @theDJR

Thanks for the Taskmaster recommendation, whoever it was.

It’s one of those rare shows that the whole family is happy to watch.

More a documentary, but on Netflix.

The whole screwup with the fire at the Grenfell Tower in West London in about 2017. 72 died.

The film starts of with David Cameron promising that he’s getting rid of the red tape, that red tape that knew the cladding put on that building was highly dangerous and could have fatal results but still saved (I think) 330 million euros. Three companies could carry the blame, but the very worst was a part of Alcoa (or had been split off from Alcoa). Alcoa representatives refused to attend the parliamentary enquiry, and were thus referred to as gutless cowards.

They knew it was dangerous, and the test results contained the word Oops.

That was an absolutely joyous series of Taskmaster. Sad to see it over.

Have it sitting below the god tier of 5, 7, 14 and 16, but not by much.

I’ve loved this season so far - up to episode 9.

In a world where everything seems crazy at the moment and with the stress of running a small business, it’s a great show to watch before sleep.

Has anyone watched Taskmaster - Champion of Champions where they pit past contestants against each other?

They are worth watching in between regular seasons when you need a TM fix, for sure.

But they lack the camaraderie and inside jokes that build over the course of a season. Plus the most competent contestants are typically the least funny (Sam Campbell was the exception to that rule).

yeah the champions episodes are ok and have their moments, but aren’t the same energy

check out the new years treat episodes though, they’re good fun. essentially one-off “celebrity taskmaster” specials
