US politics - fried (part 5)

When, oh when, will straight white men catch a break?

People are not ‘supporting the war’, they are supporting the right of a country to defend itself from invasion

This shows exactly where you’re getting your talking points from

Are you going to start honestly replying to posts or keep running away?

Different people from different backgrounds and walks of life bring different perspectives to a workplace and often result in greater business outcomes.

In some recruitment drives in the corrections and detentions industry male applicants are disregarded as the business is seeking to “fill a quota” of having x female employees engaged at any one prison at any one time, or sometimes white people are disregarded as they are trying to fill the indigenous quota etc.

This works favourably as it fits the demographic of the correctional facility and having an all white male staffing working in a facility where you are engaged with vulnerable, marginalised people who are frquently part of minotiry groups, doesnt work.

And even in your white collar environments. The only people who actually are worried about quotas, or any of this kind of ■■■■, are people who are crap at their jobs and realistically already in the firing line. Nobody else actually cares. People tend to enjoy the variety that DEI hires bring. There is nothing more boring than working in an office filled with the same sort of people.

Running away?

It happens a fair bit, a couple of recent ones I had were

‘Oh, he was very hard to understand, and I couldn’t even pronounce his name, so we won’t put him forward for an interview…’ the guy turned out to be one of the the best hires the company made.

‘Oh, she’s on maternity leave so she doesn’t get a pay review or pay rise. Spread the money around the rest of your team. But when she comes back we can just give her double. I’ll remember…’ the woman had previously been one of the companies highest performers, but they held her salary low until she returned to work. Then oopsie, the company had a wage freeze.

The dying won’t stop if they do.

Russia has the most control over that horrible reality. They could withdraw at any point, and it stops.

How naive can you be?

Like really???

Are you some sort of Russian sleeper agent secretly planted to cause mayhem on Blitz?

Russia attacked Ukraine for no other reason than to subjugate a former part of the “Glorious USSR”

They’re just international bullies who are being shown up as incompetent and relatively toothless.

The only thing that I see America doing wrong is the slow drip feed of arms etc into Ukraine

They seem to be doing a pretty good job of it so far…their navy less armed forces have forced Russia out of The Black Sea, their drones seem to able to attack just about any target withing a two thousand km limit, they’ve destroyed the bulk of Russia’s modern tank fleet whilst ceding limited land after almost 2.5 years.

But hey, just like all your other ideas, don’t let such annoying facts get in the way of your world view. (just like Trump)

Yea, I’m a Russian sleeper agent because I think negotiating an end to to war is better than prolonging a war.

Good one.

Like I said, you’re happy to cheer Ukraine on like a football team.

Would you support armed forces from Nato being deployed in Ukraine for offensive operations? Yes or no question.

Why are you trying to goad him into a yes/no answer as if the situation isn’t infinitely more nuanced than that?

It’s a pretty simple question.

Especially when he doesn’t answer repeated questions himself.

If you had a mile-wide, inch-deep understanding of geopolitics then you would probably think that

Russia invaded…are invading…an independent, democratic nation.
They can stop doing that any time they choose.
They can pack up and go home today.
And then we can talk about them recompensing Ukraine for the damage they did.

The US should be supporting a notional ally, regardless, and if they didn’t then it would make a lot of countries very nervous, and make the world a much more dangerous place.

That Russia is destroying their defence force in an unwinnable war is just gravy for the US.
But again, they’re not making Russia do that.

There are people in the real world who are responsible for this decision.

It’s a yea or no decision for them.

I agree that it was a Yes/No decision for Putin to choose to invade Ukraine

I don’t want to see NATO troops in there while the war is on.

Ukraine should be given the tools to defend themselves, and supported to the hilt though.

Don’t give them advanced missile systems then prohibit them from hitting critical targets, because those targets are the other side of the border, for instance.

That kind of thing prolongs the war, even though their rationale seems to be not to escalate it.

The invasion itself is not murky. Russia is trying to conquer, Ukraine is trying to survive.

I think supporting the invaded against the invader is the right thing to do.

Thanks for your explanation

Here we go…the typical response of just about all the right leaning members of Blitz who come into this thread.

The Yes or No Question.

As usual, such a question is not in any way as easy as Yes or No.

Let’s start with the relatively simple “FACT” that Ukraine have not asked for help in the way of external troops from NATO or anywhere else.

That realistically shuts down your question.

Anything else that you would like to add?
