US politics - fried (part 5)

Contingency for what?

The US has constitution provisions on Presidential succession.

True… Within that, I hope they formulate a plan that sees Biden not the preferred candidate.

Russia invaded Ukraine.
Ukraine lost territory.
+1 year stalemate. (1)

= Ukraine is losing (opinion)

Russia for the second straight month has a trade surplus of US$11 billion. (2)

Zelensky is on msnbc begging for money. (3)

The US cannot afford to aid even one war. Public debt repayments are now $1US trillion a year. (4)

Ukraine has to use women on the frontlines, Russia does not. (5)

Burns is in Ukraine now, trying to get a Ukraine to settle (opinion).

Some would argue, like Former French President Hollande, that leaving Afganistan the way Biden did, appeared extremely weak and encouraged Putin to do what he did. (6)

(6) Analysis: Did NATO’s Withdrawal From Afghanistan Inspire Vladimir Putin to Invade Ukraine? - JURIST - Features - Legal News & Commentary

If you actually think it’s a win for Russia to turn a 3 day operation into a 600+ day war where they’ve lost over 300k troops, a large percentage of their military capability and a huge amount of geopolitical power against a neighbour who was in almost every single facet militarily inferior - you need to read more

Your claim about women on the frontline is also completely wrong, because not only does Ukraine not ‘have to’ use women (which is not supported by your source in any way), but Russia has had equal rights for women in their military since 1992 and has in fact, had women killed in the frontlines in this very war

No, you just like to play tennis sans net and balls. Swing away, every shot’s a winner.

Wow.

I think Drapersmullet summed it up rather nicely.

No need for me to add any more.

Woooooow.

Sorry, one wow was not enough.
In fact two wows is not enough.

Wow.

This footage is from Reagan’s first term. He was never fully there. His dementia was much more difficult to hide during his second however.

Somehow he was the most influential politician of the last 50 years.

A lot to unpack there, which I’m not interested at all in doing, but just quickly on 6, Biden inherited the following  Probably need to not ‘leave out the bits’ -

The Trump administration in February 2020 negotiated a withdrawal agreement with the Taliban that excluded the Afghan government, freed 5,000 imprisoned Taliban soldiers and set a date certain of May 1, 2021, for the final withdrawal.

And the Trump administration kept to the pact, reducing U.S. troop levels from about 13,000to 2,500, even though the Taliban continued to attack Afghan government forces and welcomed al-Qaeda terrorists into the Taliban leadership.

That is the wildest opinion tonight.
And LMW has just finished telling me about a guy who wrote a soundtrack for an imaginary 80’s horror film, and netizens picked up on that and pretended the movie existed and wore costumes for it at Halloween and wrote fanfic (again, for a movie that never existed) to the point that the internet now believes the movie Does exist…

But that’s not as wild as what I just read.

Wow.

Russia has never had an issue with the killing of their own people for their political goals.

The Afganistan weak exit, whether Trumps or Bidens fault, emboldened Putin (opinion).

Don’t say that.

@Loflyer clearly pointed out that it was The Trump Administration that negotiated that withdrawal.

Biden was just left to clean up the mess.

To his…incredible detriment (opinion).
After the initial incursion, which…you know…Will Take Territory, he has lost ground.
Centimetre by centimetre, man by man, tank by tank, every. single. day.

He’s had his mercenaries try to kill him.
How’s that a great look for a powerful leader?

You’re mad.
You’re not stupid because that perverse view requires a certain amount of intelligence…but wow.
You’re mad.

When did I say Putin was powerful? As you say, he had his own squad try and knock him off.

Didn’t you just say Putin was more powerful than NATO?

What ARE you saying?

By his own admission, he was wrong. And appeared weak accordingly.

Cite my quote that makes you believe that

More of this appears weak silliness.

It’s not like he could have stood up and said “Yeah, they’re totally ■■■■■■.”

The only difference in that scenario is that Trump would never own up to a mistake
