I suggest we use the names Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia.

Note that Greenland is not held by any of the above.

The original FTA with Mexico was in part driven by cheap labour for US industry, but also to stem the flow of Mexicans trying to get into the US.
There was an episode of Buffy jeering at women wearing made in Mexico labels. Buffy noted the knock on effect of the FTA.

But it will be.
Unless Europe get cool about a lot of stuff real quick.

I mean…the world now is just Trumpism writ large.

Oh, you have your checks and balances, huh?
Well, what if we just super-audaciously ignored them?
What will You do?
Yeah. That’s what I thought. Sit down. Shut up.

Oh, category five.
You’re totally protected because of that.
But…what if I tested that? You won’t actually Do it.
Yeah. That’s what I thought.
Sit down. Shut up.

I mean…correct me if I’m wrong…
But under category five, as a founding member of NATO, the sort of talk the US have gone on with should see them expelled, right?

Anyway, I’d love someone to tell me this weird idea I just had is just totally crazy.
That Russia, China, the US, Saudi Arabia, Israel could never get past their differences and just go…wait…we own this ■■■■…

You can probably add Modi’s India to that rather powerful and unhinged gang

I really think the bigger issue isn’t that they did it, it’s that everyone sees they did it and Nothing will happen.
Nobody cares. Or if they do, nobody can do anything about it.

THAT’S the story.
No-one is getting sacked.
The journalist might go to jail. shrugs Or not because why bother?

There are no rules.
There is nothing that can possibly stop them.
There is Literally nothing they can’t do.

India is a little more complicated than that.
They’ve always hated the US.
I’ve read that Canada has increased trading ties with them to the US’s’s’s detriment.

India is about India.
And in these times, who can blame them.
Feels like they’ve been ahead of the curve.

Hilarious if true.
I have doubts, though.

I’ve seen interviews with credulous Greenlandians.

Edit: and honestly, I feel like it’s a hard sell to say they would be less prosperous under the US than Denmark.

Obviously there will be a greater military presence, hence more primary, secondary, tertiary jobs.
Way more enthusiastic mining, leading to more primary etc etc etc…

Looks like it’s just a US base visit now.

US President Donald Trump has continued his threats of taking over Greenland, a Danish semi-autonomous territory, saying on Wednesday: “We’re going to have to have it”.

“We need Greenland for international safety and security,” Trump added.

Although JD Vance will become the highest-ranking US official to visit Greenland, a visit to a US base is less controversial than the original plan for his wife’s visit, which Greenland’s acting head of government Mute Egede called a “provocation”.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said on Wednesday that the decision was “very positive” and that Denmark had “nothing against” the Americans visiting their own base.

Rasmussen also said it was a “masterful spin in many ways, to make [the US] look like they’re escalating when they’re actually deescalating.”

The revised programme will also likely reduce the risk of the Vances being met with protests by local residents.
