US politics - the end of an error

Yeah, ■■■■ him.

Limbaugh pushed anti-LGBT+ views from early on in his career, and the AIDS crisis proved fertile ground for the controversial radio host to find an audience.
He famously referred to AIDS as “the Rock Hudson disease” following the actor’s high-profile death. In the 1980s, he briefly ran a segment called the “AIDS Update”, which was often introduced with the song “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” by Dionne Warwick.

His condition has been described as satisfactory.

“Here lies Rush Limbaugh” will be a fitting epitaph.

:open_mouth:

I wonder how many times this scene has been played out. Most of them have yet to begin the fight with their insurance companies. What a mess.

Work harder.

l would be staggered if he didn’t.

You didn’t believe the ‘Person, woman, man, camera, TV’ thing?

getting frustrated with constituents is one thing, but openly moaning “stop expecting your local government to actually do anything” is another

The difference (well one of many many I hope) between myself and Gingrich is that I have guilt for taking any pleasure is his passing. The hate mongers like him would not if it were someone on the left.

Sometimes, it is really hard to just be the better person.

But saying he is alright now because he is dead is also far to difficult to stomach.

Nah, it’s a good example to others. This is how horrible a person people think you are.
You won’t even get the consideration allowed for decidedly dicey characters.
The world is a slightly less ■■■■■■ place than it was yesterday.

the whole “speak no ill of the dead” concept can get stuffed. if we can’t revel in the passing of shtbags then what fun is there in the world?

for instance - it’s extremely hypocritical for someone so staunchly pro-life as limbaugh to be dead

lung cancer/cancel culture… is there anything in that?

“Speak no ill of the dead”,leads to fake news. Please tell the truth about public figures. They take on the responsibility, they need to be held to account in public. If the mourners want to say what a wonderful Daddy he was, that is also their right

Oh I shouldn’t do this…

I’m not proud of myself. I’d only resort to this for a very select group of maybe five people in the world… and he was one of them.

Sorry, not sorry.

Considering he routinely made fun of people who were dead or sick, I shouldn’t feel bad at all. I might just a tiny bit, because I’m a human being… but not much.

I guess the moral of the story here is don’t live your life in a way where people might cheer your death.

My parents lived in Houston for about 12 months when they were young, before I was born. My mum couldn’t stand it; she basically told my dad “I’m getting the fark out of here and if you wanna stay married, you will too”.

Maybe not quite that dramatically, but she still speaks of that time as if she were living in a dystopian hellscape, and that was nearly 50 years ago.
