Trump is too stupid to deliberately adhere to any ideology, his authoritarian tendencies come from a narcissistic inability to cop any kind of criticism, let alone the criticism which comes from being president.
When he sees SNL making fun of him, he believes they must be punished for making fun of him. When the press reports on his policy failures, they must be punished for making him look bad. Itâs not serving any greater political project other than protecting his feelings.
