He loves a good announcement about money pouring into his country without them having to give or do anything of note. Cos other countries should just give them money. And then absolutely nothing of the sort happens. But he did it. Cos he said he did it. Money.

Yes, we laughed at it in the Ukraine thread previously, but I guess it impressed the only person who mattered…

Putin says they are testing new, highly impractical bastar.d weapons. None of this has been publicly confirmed by anybody who could provide any hard data (i.e. U.S. Military). Maybe because they would give away a true measurement of their own intelligence capabilities.

I personally don’t think they are as advanced in the development of bastar.d weapons as they say they are. Putin uses these pronouncements of wunderwaffe development as part of a broader game..

Bluff and counter-bluff..

Great post, but the Socratic method is not effective on people who are unprepared to think outside their cages.

Appropriate since that is also aimed at 12 year olds, or those with similar IQ

Because Xi called his bluff and Trump went home with his tail between his legs.

The Art of Letting Trump Claim a Win, While Walking Away Stronger

By withholding soybean purchases and rare-earth exports, China extracted relief from U.S. tariffs and delayed export controls, without conceding much in return.

President Trump and China’s leader, Xi Jinping, after talks on Thursday ended. Mr. Xi said to Mr. Trump that both sides should avoid falling into a “vicious cycle

When Xi Jinping walked out of his meeting with President Trump on Thursday, he projected the confidence of a powerful leader who could make Washington blink.

The outcome of the talks suggested that he succeeded.

By flexing China’s near monopoly on rare earths and its purchasing power over U.S. soybeans, Mr. Xi won key concessions from Washington — a reduction in tariffs, a suspension of port fees on Chinese ships and the delay of U.S. export controls that would have barred more Chinese firms from access to American technology. Both sides also agreed to extend a truce struck earlier this year to limit tariffs.

“What’s clear is they have become increasingly bold in exerting leverage and they are happy to pocket any and all U.S. concessions,” said Julian Gewirtz, who was a senior China policy official at the White House and the State Department in President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s administration.

Sounding almost as if he were delivering a lecture, Mr. Xi said to Mr. Trump that the “recent twists and turns” of the trade war should be instructive to them both, according to a Chinese government summary of Mr. Xi’s remarks at the meeting in Busan, South Korea.

The Chinese leader said the “recent twists and turns” of the trade war should be instructive to them both.
“Both sides should consider the bigger picture and focus on the long-term benefits of cooperation, rather than falling into a vicious cycle of mutual retaliation,” Mr. Xi said.

By twists and turns, Mr. Xi was most likely referring to the last several months, or nearly a year, of tit-for-tat retaliatory measures in the form of tariffs, sanctions and export controls. Earlier this month, China escalated this drastically, strengthening its hand by announcing sweeping new limits on the sales of on rare earths, critical minerals that are needed for almost all modern technology. Cutting off their supply could cripple U.S. industries.

It’s like he’s deliberately undermining the US military superiority,

I suspect the admiral had some rather compelling objections to something occurring in Venezuela, and Trump needed someone pliable.

I guess doing stuff like this eliminates the possibility of a military coup when he decides to cancel or stop recognising elections.

Trump looked weak and pathetic during his meeting with China’s President Xi , and accomplished virtually nothing. Xi had Trump waiting for him to arrive, standing in front of the press alone looking anxious. As Xi walked in, Trump decided not to try his usual arm-jerk move that he reserves for leaders of our allies, but he still held on for an awkward period of time again as Xi looked bored and annoyed. This exchange then ensued:

  • Trump: Good to see you again.
  • Xi: Says nothing.
  • Trump: We’re going to have a very successful meeting. I have no doubt.
  • Xi: Says nothing.
  • Trump: But he’s a very tough negotiator, that’s not good. (Trump turns to look at Xi with a big smile and pats him on the arm).
  • Xi: Doesn’t smile. Says nothing.
  • Trump: We know each other very well.
  • Xi: Says nothing.
  • Q - Mr. President, do you intend to sign a deal today?
  • Trump: Could be. I think we’ll have a great understanding. (Looks over at Xi)
  • Xi: Says nothing. (Looks away)
  • Trump: We have a great relationship. We always had a great relationship. (Looks at Xi again)
  • Xi: Looks away annoyed with an expression that says he thinks Trump is full of ■■■■.
  • Trump: Thank you very much, everyone. (They leave).

“ … Bessent: “President Trump is promises made, promises kept on his campaign promises. And it’s gonna start flowing through to working Americans next year. Wall Street has done great.”

This almost reads like a Blitz post from usual suspects. Winning.

“ The reason why they could not actually hold or try the individuals that survived one of the attacks is because they could not satisfy the evidentiary burden.”

They’re killing innocent people and waging war on civilians of another country. If these people were drug running paedophiles it would still be unthinkable. Those posters in here rolling out the old “bomb all drug dudes” are presumably cool with snipers taking out the Purdue family? Because that’s a home grown nightmare right there.
