What should we get with our picks?

Here is the roar's phantom draft. I don't put much faith in it.
I'll be so ■■■■■■ if we take Parfitt over Drew at 41

Here are my thoughts. A little hard as you have no idea who will be there. The 1-4 .represent our picks where they land. Four is my guess around how many we will take.

1 - McCluggage. Why? Inside outside midfielder who really has no weaknesses either aerobically, skill wise or physically - quick, evasive, takes contested marks, kicks goals, tackles, wins contested ball and works his ■■■■ off. Yes, he is a little light but I don’t see that as a weakness particularly after missing most of the pre-season. If we choose him (I suspect we’ll choose McGrath), I see his first season as being 75% hff and 25% midfield (more than likely swapping with Parish). If not him? My second choice would be Brodie as I think he’s a sure thing to be a good player…don’t know about elite. I have not seen enough of Setterfield to have an opinion on him.
2. One of Battle, Kerr, Heywood, Bolton, Gallucci, Mutch or Clarke. Why? All could be best available and suit a potential need down the track. I’m being realistic around who might be here so have not included Marshall, Florent, English etc. as I think they’ll be gone.
3. Anyone of point 2 left behind but a bid on Sproule if not already taken. If all gone, see 4 below.
4. Anyone left behind of 2-3 but adding in Ronke, Berry, Rotham, Lyons, Long, Ridley, Ryan and one of the best state grade rucks.

PSD: Most likely nobody. Don’t rate the Brisbane ranga and really don’t see any quality there at all.

Rookie: Best state grade ruck (if not taken in 4), Rioli, Heppell, Brisbane ranga (can’t hurt I guess as a rookie).

So, we have picks #1, #20, #29, #41, #68, #95, #113, #131

Starting with a bit of history:

Pick #1:

  • never had it before

Pick #20 has been used for:

  • Scott Cummings - 1992 - 40 games
  • Dean Solomon - 1997 - 158 games
  • Tom Hislop - 2006 - 7 games
  • Jayden Laverde - 2014 - 18 games*

Pick 29 has been used for:

  • Scott Mollard - 1993 - 0 games
  • Alex Morgan - 2015 - 0 games*

Pick #41:

  • never had it before

Pick #68 Has been used for:

  • Simon Eastaugh - 1997 - 17 games
  • Michael Hartley - 2015 - 19 games*

Picks #95, #113, #131:

  • never used

I think we should:

  • Use pick 1 for McLuggage - to win the Brownlow in 4 years time
  • Use Pick 20 for a an outside mid - to replace Stanton in 2 years
Use Pick 41 for a tall/utility - to replace Luey and TBC in their old age..

Thoughts?

Battle, Bolton, Rioli, Heppell

After Mcclug I’ll be happy with them.

Pick 1: Hugh McCluggage Pick 20: Jarrod Berry if Gone Jy Simpkin Pick 29: Graham/Scharenberg Pick 41: Tall Ruck/Forward prospect

Battle.

1. McCluggage 20. Gallucci ( or Berry, Florent or Battle) 29. Florent (or Hayward) 41. Rioli 68. Ruckman??

I really want Gallucci at pick 20 or Florent. I think either of them will add to the outside midfield run.

Bolton

A bit of a hypothetical...

If on draft night, Todd Marshall or Tim English, for some reason slide to pick 20, do you take them?

Big YES

If we walk out of this draft without Willie Rioli we have ■■■■■■ it up.

Looks as though we may be using up another list spot for Xav Richards so pick 68 is no longer in play (unless Smack also gets demoted to rookie list or we decide against a PSD selection).

1 - Setterfield/McCluggage
20 - Florent
29 - Rioli
41 - Best available mature ruck

someone will rip our Willie off???

Mids with pace and who can kick goals.

Every single time this guy gets a mention I just think of the IT crowd.

FWIW loving the 2nd round pick.

I’m sooo easily swayed. I’d prefer McC or McG, but then the SPS article talks about how he loved Essendon’s facilities and all of a sudden I want him too!

■■■■■■ hell, bring on draft day already and relieve me of the pain.

Apparently the Sen phantom draft is out today.

Clug all day

I can only hope it's better than that roar one.

Parfitt looks decent to me.

To me he is a poor mans Lewis Taylor, can find the footy but isn't very damaging
