Worst umpiring ever

Not talking about the individuals talking about the club being soft mentally.

Hit the nail on the head.

Sounds like they call Scott and apologized for some decisions.

Wonder how that went.

Sorry sportsbet needed geelong to have a win, having them as a sponser really pumps up my pay packet you know.

Ohhh and Geelong have had a tough run with all there losses, and this is not a good look for the game, we love Geelong.

We thought you must have got the memo brad. You did see danger got off didnt you.

The Geelong globe trotters.

Can anyone do a AI images of that?

i hope the players get angry, but keep it under control.

As to the ā€œbad decisionsā€ why?

IMO because at half time frees were 6 to 3 in favour of Essendon, the Umps were given instructions at half time to even them up.

So the dumb umpires, instead of giving frees to Geelong in the Geelong back line, they gave them to Geelong in the Geelong forward line. ( or non decisions in the Essendon forward line )

I will postulate that the umps were cheating in effect, but in an effort to shield the Umps from accusations of bias, not necessarily because of actual bias against Essendon.

Footy Classified said that after Laura Kane called Scott, he then went and met with the umpires boss to demand clarity on their interpretation.

yep there was one where Cats players appealed for free kick, but if actually went for the ball they could have got it, but may have then been under some pressure compared to a free kick by letting it go out and claiming the free.

Can’t blame the players though, they are just adjusting to the BS rules.

Late in Q4 when the game is in the balance, all the players seem to appeal every time the ump throws the ball in or throws it up. Holding, High contact illegal disposal, holding the man, prior, no prior, contactbehind the ball etc etc etc

Its no wonder umps put the whistle away.

Interesting listening to SWMNBN on footy classified, they showed Q1 where Menzie hit the ball back in the square and resulted in a Shannon Neale goal. Was told in no uncertain terms to rush it through next time…and he did. AFL admitted they were wrong on the deliberate decision.

Menzie is on very thin ice as far as his career is concerned. He could quite easily be dropped on last week’s performance and it is not inconceivable he wouldn’t play AFL again.
If so the AFL and the maggots destroyed his career. But that is OK, because they admitted they were wrong. Behind closed doors. Allegedly.

Not sure why umpires are placed under so much pressure with all the modern technology we have these days. The umpires have ear pieces where they could get some pretty quick feedback from a senior umpire with a better view. It would take 2 seconds for the umpire to get feedback and change a decision.

The problem is that fans expect umpires to get it right, but this is not easy because there are so many distractions on the field, so many contests.

I’m in favour of this, if the game is moving too quickly for the umps it makes a lot of sense.

A remote umpire situation would be totally unworkable.

They could stop the play put a big sign on the big screen - Umpire decision video review, replay the incident multiple times, maybe play an add on FTA and give it 30 seconds. Then announce the decision - behind, or free kick Geelong stands etc.

It would likely mean that decisions that were overlooked multiple times would be a massive talking point.

I would go similar to tennis. - Captains review - get 3 per match, can request a review of field or goal umpire decisions.

probably still hard to do when there is a free not paid, like what happenned to Draper for front on conttact.

Just get AI to umpire from cameras attached to the umpires with a headset giving the umps the decision.

Only problem is that if they train the AI on historical data, Essendon are going to be screwed forever.

Would affect the game more than the decision.

The umpires are already miked up and get feedback at each quarter from an umpiring coach(afaik).

Id probably only favour it on decisions that directly result in a shot on goal as theres a pause in play anyway.

Ie HTB on ridley, deliberate by Menzies, front on contact Draper etc.

And if overturned just have a throw up.

And even around the last id only do it when theres a whistle.

For non free kicks its in both teams interest to simply play the lack of a whistle. Ie play on.

I still don’t get the ā€œhe made an attempt to dispose of the ball ā€œ part of the Stewart tackle. He didn’t handball or kick it so he dropped it or threw it, isn’t that deemed incorrect disposal so free kick anyway, sorry probably already mentioned many times I’m very confused.

I think he was officially deemed not to have had prior so he only needed to attempt to dispose of it, as the paddling etc leasing up to him taking possession this wasn’t considered as prior opportunity

What a farking joke … clarity of what exactly :frowning: The Ridley free kick was not there, the ones against Geelong clearly were. WHAT FARKING CLARITY, the yellow maggots in a 20 minute period sent 7 or 8 decisions Geelong’s way…there is no explanation needed, they deliberately influenced a game.

That is; umpires pre-determining the result of a game… plain as the nose on this dumb twits (the woke appointment Launa) face. Call the Sports Police, there needs to be an enquiry to demand why punters are out of pocket & umpires are once & for all put in their farking place. That place is ----> you have no talent … you are paid a fortune … stop making it about you … stopping prancing around the ground like a fairy & do your farking job correctly so the AFL doesn’t have to make up ā– ā– ā– ā–  poor excuses for you that treats supporters like they are stupid & not a consideration.

Contrast with Stringer who also had no prior and did everything he possibly could to get rid of it and got pinged.

Yep, crazy stuff. No wonder we’ve all lost our minds

What I’m curious about is what happens internally once these admissions are made? With Mollison for example, does Laura Kain call him and say ā€œmate it’s all good you did nothing wrong, I just had to throw them a boneā€? Or does he get counseled on his performance and put on notice, does he get right of reply? Does he get dropped and what determines if an umpire gets dropped? Is it a certain number of incorrect decisions in a game or if Laura decides it’s needed for the optics?
