Would you trade the number 1 pick? Jackets wouldn't

Us having not done anything as yet this trade period isn't a drama IMO

We have replaced Hibbo via Dea/Kelly already and negotiating with Melb to put up something decent.

It’s clear we are after class mids only or quality kpf’s. Patton keeps getting talked about spoken to JRiewoldt and most likely missed out on JOM.

And we are carrying the whip hand with pick 1… the offers will come from GWS or GC for it. Neither of which have finalised their position.

GWS still has Marchbank, Pickett, Stewart, Hoskin-Elliot, Steele deals to sort out.

GC still has JOM, Prestia… and the incoming players like Hanley, AhChee etc to do as well.

Once they have there will be the serious attempts on pick 1 IMO. And also we will then know what we have at our disposal to go after other players.

Fair enough Speedy; however, if Essendon don’t doing anything this period and they don’t finish in the 8, should Dodoro keep his job?

Pick 1 is absolute gold for the AFL babies GWS and GC especially with academy picks on the line. Also GWS know that they will be losing some guns in the next year or two after they go back to back. This trade period has a long way to go yet

having said that we will probably end up with pick 1

If he lands more class in the draft then yes he would keep his job.

Pls correct me if I’m wrong; but, aren’t Merv Keane and others involved in drafting. We have been brilliant in this area in recent years; but, horrible in trading. What’s/Who’s the common denominator?

You need to let it go mate, you are not the one who employ him and you never stop going on about it.

GC currently have 6 picks inside 30 with two more likely on the way for prestia and jom. They 4, 8,22,24,26 and 30. Likely to draw 23 and 6. Wouldn’t surprise if they ended up with 16 and Hanley for 8 or 6.

Do your thing speedy.

In recent years who of note would honestly have wanted to come to the club?

In saying that the below all came to us and have provided plenty for the club against their cost.

Goddard
Chappy
Cooney
Gwilt
Leuey
Bird

McKenna also chose us over other clubs based on his dealings with Dodoro, this despite the saga.

Dodoro also would have had a big hand in convincing particular top ups to play with us.

EFC is still a massive unknown at present. No one knows how we will bounce back, but also on paper our list is actually very strong so opportunity for players at other clubs who are seeking that is uncertain.

Marchbank for example would have selected Blues based on opportunity which is all he wants given not getting that at GWS. JOM selected Hawks based on trust in medical team, which is the key to him having a career or remaining on sidelines or out of the game.

Change is hard for people in general life. Most people stay in their ■■■■■■ jobs because it’s safe to them, those that do move and are deciding between multiple businesses and roles they always want to be certain it’s the right company and right fit for them.

So yes even if we miss the 8 next year which we won’t IMO then Dodoro should stay but the heat will be on for trade period 2017. However players will be lining up to come to us from then on anyway.

If both clubs agree they want different players, why would GWS trade up to get the same player they are going to get at #2 while at the same time losing points to use on their academy players? Makes zero sense for GWS to trade #1 and #20 for #2 and #15 and even less sense for them to trade #1 and #28 for #2 and #15. The only reason it would make sense is if our media plant earlier this week had actually made them believe we would bid on Setterfield. Most here don’t believe that and GWS don’t seem to believe it either.

Pick 1 for a gun key forward.....you just never know

Lynch

Can’t be bothered looking it up but what are the points for 1 versus 4 & 14 (assuming Suns get it for JOM)

4 would get us one of McCluggage, McGrath, SPS, Taranto or Brodie and another top kid. Cue the criticism but I would prefer that to one shot.

If we had to even up points with a late swap of picks then do it.

It’s 3000 pick 1 to 3195 for 4 & 14
On points it can be done (within 200)

Trade pick 1 to GC and make them bid on GWS Academy players like last year.

Doubt either of the Mc’s would be there at 4

Um, didn’t 14 go to sydney? Suns can’t get it for JOM

True.
Robbo last night did tweet O’Meara to Swans. Watch this space.
Or something like that.

Our Pick #1 still might be in play. Andrew Hamilton in Courier Mail reporting of a “stoush” brewing between Brisbane and GCS over Brisbane bidding on Jack Bowes with their Pick 3.

GCS still have to get picks or players in for O’Meara and possibly Pick 6 for Prestia.

4 and 6?

GWS (Craig Cameron) just ruled out interest in trading with Essendon up to pick 1 fwiw
