We are the 5 or 4 oldest list in the comp.

I’d be more worried if we lost like that and our best players were Watson, Stanton etc.

Zerrett, Tippa, Joe, Orazio and (tonight) McGrath are carrying us atm. That’s great for the future. It’s not great for this season though.

Some thoughts

• I’m still unsure about Josh Green.
• The improvement again this year in Tippa is quite something. Looks very comfortable in the centre too.
• Langford and Zaha were both better tonight. Not great, but they did respond.
• I know Mckenna copped a heap in the game thread, but I still think he is worth having a proper look at. Got better as the game went on.
• I hope it doesn’t get awkward with Jobe, if it isn’t already.
• Stanton doesn’t seem to have a role. I don’t know what he’s really supposed to be doing, so he’s hard to assess. Having zero impact though.

We are a bottom four side as it is now. Will be interesting to see what Woosha decides to do from here, because any thoughts of finals success in the near future is pie in the sky stuff.

2 goals and a miss, 5 marks, 15 touches and 3 tackles is “nothing else” ? Idiotic comment. He worked hard up to the wings and was dangerous in the 50. Exactly what you want from a lead up forward.

Agree - I almost forgot he was a returning player.

The one thing that seperates him and the rest of the returning guys is speed.

The game has gotten amazingly fast over the past 2 years, i’m not saying the game has passed these guys by, but by golly it’s a hard game if you don’t have speed and/or power.

Tackling/Defensive pressure was just not there in the first half. A switched on side might get close to Adelaide.

Reckon Whoosha might have kept Hocking in the side.in retrospect and whilst Leuenberger is winning the taps maybe Mckernan would suit the game more now.

Our midfield is of the main concern and its very clear now that a big part of the problem is the lack of speed in the center.

And we have nothing coming through the vfl for developing mids (except for last years draftees)

Adelaide are incredibly strong. And yes, they couldn’t miss.
I’m disappointed, but I’ll wait till Anzac Day to see how they go in a more normal game. Last week was slush, today in Adelaide against a powerful team after a six day break. So the game against Coll should be a better indication of where they’re at.
Some players don’t look they should be in the team.

Trouble with the slow and senior players is they aren’t even hitting the contests hard.
That filters down to the other players that you even get guys like Zach not smashing himself defensively when he sees so many others not putting their body on the line.

Tough game these days. You can control and lose it in the last touch. We got schooled. Didn’t feel like a ten goal loss but that’s all it takes. We aren’t as far away as that score line. This is the hard part of this season. We aren’t a bad team but we aren’t a great team and Adelaide are. We’ve got some ways to go and tonight, if anything, should show us how it’s done. There were silly frees, weird umpiring (as expected) and horrible errors but we didn’t drop our heads. Strange to think but I reckon this is good for us. We showed a lot after getting blown away in the first quarter. We just need to finish better forward amd keep that pressure going like we did in the second amd their quarters.

It’s a minority view but it’s not “extremist trolling” you just need to look in the right threads. From the list management thread in the last few weeks:

Absolutely can win the flag with a good injury run and our fwd line clicking which is very much a work in progress. How quickly the group can learn to play with each other the issue, but so far so good.

It’s a good question. Can this list in its current state win a flag? Will Watson/Goddard/Stanton/Kelly still be valuable when Francis/Parish/McGrath start to hopefully become stars?

IMO there’s no reason why Essendon can’t push top 4 this year with a good run with injuries.

I think the club has said we owe it to this group to go as hard as possible at a flag while they are still playing. I agree with that policy. I look at our squad and think, why couldn’t we?
